Savvy Shopping

May 24th, 2009

I love shopping and I love the Internet, so I am sure it comes as no surprise that I love shopping online.

I’ve just spent the last few hours of my Sunday evening doing just that actually, I have some new lingerie on it’s way to me as well as some boring bits and bobs for the house. I have also been doing serious research into treadmills as my Mom told me she wants to get one and asked me to find the best price I could for her.

I always look for coupons before buying any thing online or when doing research into prices, I don’t understand why more people don’t because there are some really great coupons available most of the time.

I once found a $100 off a $200 spend coupon for a site I wanted to purchase from.

Best. Day. Ever!

I use many sites to find the coupons, including Easy Coupon Search — they have so many codes and deals listed and the site is always up to date and fresh. I just did a search for a Steve Madden Promo Code and they have one for free delivery, yay, free delivery coupons are always my favourites because I hate to pay for shipping, it’s the only down side of online shopping.

Duty Free

May 24th, 2009

Every one knows one of the best things about going on vacation is picking up the Duty Free goodies at the airport, right?

It’s always one of the first places I head to when I hit a new airport, but some times the shops are really busy or you are pushing your luck because you have to get the next flight right away etc.

Well if you are going to Sydney Airport you don’t need to worry about that because you can pre-order your duty free online and have it ready and waiting for you when you arrive. If you make an order of $100 or more at the moment you can get $10 off using code SAC105399 at checkout.

What a great service, I hope it catches on in other airports :)

Need a Spa Cover

May 23rd, 2009

We need spa covers for the new spa we are getting in a few weeks time, I cannot wait – we need 101 other things also that we hadn’t really thought about or accounted for when we made the decision to buy it – isn’t that always the case, you work out how much something will cost but it ends up costing a lot more because there are lots of add ons you had not considered! That’s OK though, they will all definitely be worth it :)

I will probably order it from HotTubWorks.com, they have plenty of really fairly priced covers as well as lots of other accessories. They sell only the best quality products and are I think the largest online seller of spa and hot tub covers. They even create custom ones for people with uncommonly shaped or sized ones. Ours is going to be a pretty bog standard small one so I don’t think we’ll be needing a custom cover but it is good to know they are there if we ever do need one. They offer information on how to accurately measure your spa so you know you are definitely getting the right size.

Check them out for yourself :)

Home Improvement Time!

May 23rd, 2009

When we moved into our new house earlier in the year I met loads of great people from companies we used for various things, and although we did not need Maryland deck builders at the time one site I came across, MedallionSecurity.com, is now in my bookmarks folder to use in the future when we do need them.

They are a long running family owned business and they have many strings to their bow, they build and install fences, doors, windows, sunrooms and decking and so much more. They are able to handle jobs of all sizes, from a small job in someones back yard to a huge one for your business.

They only use top quality materials and workmen to ensure that the home improvements they do for you stand the test of time and that you are completely satisfied with what they have done – yet their prices remain very fair, there’s a reason they are the number one home improvement business in the area.

I have already suggested that two friends take a look at them and as I say, I have them bookmarked under my home improvements folder so that if we need the services they offer in the future I can go back to them.

Admission Essay Help

May 23rd, 2009

My sister in law is in her last year of college and just asked me to help her with her medical school admission essay, I had no idea she even wanted to go into a medical career so this is news to me. She’s never shown much interest in what she planned to do in the future, she just wanted to get good grades so that she’s have a lot of options open to her and I guess it has worked out well because now she has decided what she wants to do she’s already well on her way to achieving it.

I need to start telling people no when they ask for help with things I don’t know any thing about, it’s one thing to help someone in something you are already knowledgeable about but when they know as much as you there’s really no reason they can’t just do it themselves, is there?

Any way a quick search brought me to AdmissionEssays.com, they help people in all stages of their eduction with writing their admission essays in all fields.

I am going to politely hand over the URL to her and tell her to work it out for herself :)

New Curtains!

May 22nd, 2009

We are going to get our new curtains tomorrow, we ordered them sometime last week — I think it was Wednesday, they told us they would take at least a week so we are pleased they’ve got them done quicker. I love good service, who doesn’t?

If there’s one thing that is going to make someone return to a retailer it is getting great service.

We got them from TheCurtainShop.com and they sell loads of great items that we need for the new house, including some bedding comforter sets that I have my eye on.

I have been kinda splurging a bit recently, which is unlike me as I am usually so sensible with my money, but I want my house to look lovely so when I see something that I think would be perfect for it I find it very difficult to walk away or settle for something cheaper – as my husband always tries to encourage me to do.

I don’t think there’s any thing wrong with wanting a nice house and for things to be exactly as you want them, having pride in ones home is a good thing not a bad one.

But I am going to have to curb the spending at least some what for a while.

Make them more exciting!

May 22nd, 2009

I run several websites other than Lodowisko.net and one of them involves posting press releases, or modified press releases on a regular basis.

Let me tell you, they should really use a press release distribution service and pay the professionals to make sure they are sending out something that is not only usable but also informative and interesting — they have to give us something we can work with.

You’d think that the majority would be good any way, right? This is the information about their product (in my case, TV shows) that they want to get out there into the public domain — bu you’d be surprised how many come with typos, contradictory information or in a lot of cases hardly any information at all. It’s a good job I have become quite skilled in rewriting them to make them seem more interesting or exciting than they really are.

Like I say they should pay someone to write them for them, it really will pay off in the long run. You can get help writing compelling press releases from sites like pressreleasesolutions.com — they are professional, fast and actually really affordable so there is really no excuse for these people not to use them!

Ding Dong…

May 22nd, 2009

…the bells are gonna chime!

When I got married it came as a big shock to every one we know, because we didn’t tell them until a few weeks beforehand!

I feel like the oddest girl in the world, but I actually didn’t want a huge fuss on the big day and if I couldn’t get the organza table overlay I wanted I wasn’t going to cry about it. We didn’t partake in most of the traditions. I just don’t get excited about the things most other women seem to when it comes to weddings. I wanted it to be a quality wedding, the things we did have needed to be the best — but it had more of a relaxed party feel to it than a big formal do :)

I was watching some of the Bridezillas on The Celebrity Apprentice a few weeks ago where they had to sell wedding dresses and wondering quite why they get so stressed, it’s meant to be a happy day, if it’s that much drama preparing for it and the world will end if the table cloth is the wrong colour then you can keep the big wedding!

Or, if some how I did decide that’s what I wanted I would 100% hire a wedding planner to take care of all those details for me — let them worry about getting the banquet chair covers and table cloths from some where like RazaTrade.com.

Fun in the tub!

May 22nd, 2009

I have decided that the husband and I deserve a nice treat, we both work hard and are very careful with money so I think it is OK to splurge now and then!

We decided that with the summer fast approaching and the fact we actually have a nice bigish garden since moving to the new house we should get something we can enjoy in the great outdoors in the good weather.

We considered upgrading out BBQ or getting a nice Gazebo, but ultimately decided on a hot tub! I am so excited I can’t even tell you, I don’t think I have ever even used a hot tub before never mind owned one. It’ll be a great way to relax together and enjoy each others company in the evenings :)

Of course we still need to be on the look out for a cheap hot tub, although we are having a treat we still need to be savvy about it – there’s no point in throwing money away! We’d only need a small one, although it would be nice to have a bigger one so people can use it when they come over a 2 person hot tub is really the most sensible option.

I will let you know when we get it :)

Proxy Pro 6

May 21st, 2009

When my husband and I first met he worked in a Chinese restaurant and had his own side business building and fixing computers for people, he’s always known about computers and is self taught which I am very impressed by — I remember the first time I had a problem I told him about and was floored that he could fix my computer without even being here by using remote access software, I was so clueless!

He now works for a big well known computer manufacturer as a technician, has official qualifications and is making a pretty penny from what was just his hobby/sideline several years ago :)

I will have to tell him about ProxyNetworks.com, a site I came across a while ago that offer a top of the range remote access software solution for businesses called Proxy Pro 6 — using it allows a user to access other computers via the Internet so that they can then work out problems and fix them right there and then, it also allows for collaborative work to be done when the people involved can’t physically get together and for many other purposes.

It definitely sounds like the sort of software his firm would find useful, and it is very secure using the best encryption possible.
